All the fireworks were taken from a 4th floor walk-up building at the end of India Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York by Ming Lin. In many ways, this is one of the best locations to view the largest fireworks exhibition in the world, which takes place eve place every 7/4 over the East River in New York.
As with years past, three barges launch their payloads simultaneously. Each is about ½ mile from the other. The photos are shot from a little less than a mile away. Standing closer would mean one could not see all three “simultaneous shows.” What these shots don’t show, is that the second largest fireworks show is taking place near Staten Island, and can also be see from this same vantage point, about 4 miles away, through what was a light fog.
For 2008 the there were over 120,000 bursts of color, light and breathtaking pyrotechnics from around the world bursting 1,000 feet in the air.
