The Angkor Wat Temple in Siem Reap

Angkor Wat’s beautiful carvings and statues have since lured travelers from across the globe to marvel at its magnificence. Built in the 12th century, its carved sandstone walls are particularly celebrated as examples of exquisite Khmer art, symbolizing as they do the king’s vision of unity and the Hindu god Vishnu.

The temple is a representation of Hindu cosmology. It features rings of land and oceans, with a mountain peak and city that is home to the gods.

Angkor Wat’s beauty and vastness are such that many consider it to be one of the seven wonders of the world.
